FABRIC FACTS

Organic Cotton Terry Fabric 340grm Heavy weight
All Cotton fabrics are coated in natural oils and lubricants which decrease their absorbency. To remove these gently we recommend washing all terry products at least twice before use. All 100% organic terry fabrics have a tendency to snag. To help prevent this and tighten the weave of the fabric we recommend at least one high temperature wash, up to 95 degrees, using a non-bio detergent; do not use a softener as this will decrease natural absorbency.

Bamboo Terry in White
Made from 100% Bamboo yarn in the loops of the fabric which are embedded in a polyester base for added strength (10% Polyester). Bamboo has a rapid growth cycle that requires no chemicals and little water; it is naturally bacteria resistant and biodegradable. It has a very high absorbency level and in tests absorbs 60 to 80% more moisture than cotton yarn. It should be washed at no more than 60 degrees, using a non-bio detergent; do not use a softener as this will decrease natural absorbency. This product is manufactured in the EU under strict EU regulations using a viscose process, as the cellulose is chemically extracted from the bamboo. Hence Bamboo fabric is described as a eco-tech fabric instead of a pure natural fibre fabric.

Bamboo Terry in Cream
This fabric is patented and carries the
oeko-tex 100 label.  See below for an explanantion. This patented bamboo towelling is knitted without being stretchy. It looks like a normal terry with loops on both sides. The loops are tied into the backing, which means they do not snag. It is soft and shiny like nothing you have ever seen and has multiple uses including towels, robes, flat and pre-formed nappies, etc.

Cotton Terry Fabric
Our cotton terry  fabric is milled in the EC under strict guidelines. All weights have loops of 100% cotton embedded in a polyester base for extra strength and to prevent snagging. Polyurethane Laminate
Made from Polyester fabric backed by a non breathable laminated backing is light weight fabric forms a leak proof barrier to protect babies clothing. We have opted for the non breathable state as the breathable form allows air and moisture through the fabric  when most purchasers really need to keep their baby dry! We recommend washing a low 40 degrees to maintain the fabrics lifespan and water proof quality. It can be washed at 60 degrees and higher to remove stains.

HEMP:
Hemp requires no irrigation, pesticides or fertilizers. It is fast-growing, renewable, resilient and regenerates the soil. Hemp is still the strongest known natural fibre and as such is easy to maintain. Hemp does not wear out. It wears in!
Hemp is absorbent, breathable and offers excellent protection against UV radiation.

Hemp Fleece
Hemp remains the strongest of the natural fibres growing without the need for fertilizers or pesticides making it an organic crop by nature. Natural Hemp is a course fibre but combining it with organic cotton softens the texture without compromising its great absorbency. Our Hemp Fleece is 55% Hemp/45% Organic Cotton with a fluffy texture on one side of a stretch jersey layer. Again we recommend washing at 40 degrees to get the best out of the fabric but 60 degrees is fine too. * We are curently selling this in the open state/roll

Philosophy of the Öko-Tex Standard 100 marking

The Oeko-Tex 100 Standard comprehensively addresses the Human Ecology component of textile products. It evaluates and screens for any harmful substances present within processed textiles intended to come into contact with consumers.

Independence
The member institutes of the International Association for Research and Testing in the field of Textile Ecology (Oeko-Tex) are competent and internationally renowned independent textile testing and research houses.
Fixed, available requirements
The established testing requirements are publicly available to view.
Traceability and controls
The Oeko-Tex standard is recognised by use of a registered Trade Mark, a licensing model and a certified product labelling system. This supports the long term integrity of the standard and diminishes the potential for misuse.
Testing principle

Only parameters are set, that can be verified by analytical methods.

Scientifically based limiting values
To quote Paracelsus; " It is not the substance that is poisonous but its concentration". Using this concept, limiting values are based on scientific criteria.
Modular Approach
The Oeko-Tex testing system is modular in format and enables reliable and comprehensive assessment within a realistic time frame. This is advantageous when considering the nature of the clothing and textile industry with its fashion conscious, dynamic pace.
Textile relevance and textile competence
Only parameters that are relevant for a certain textile product group are set and tested. For example there would be no colour- fastness testing of un-dyed fabric.
Useable at any stage of the textile chain
If a product is checked and certified at a particular stage of the production process chain, it can then be used in the next stage without having to be re-tested. Testing intensity and associated cost is likely to be increased at the stage in the production chain where a non conformity is more likely to occur.
No barrier to trade
The Oeko-Tex scheme is available to manufacturers world-wide.

Although it is far more cost effective to test at each stage of the production process, it is still possible to certify the finished product itself at any time.

Formation of article groups
Based on the textile competence and on the system of certified raw materials, a range of articles can usually be combined into one certificate by considering the possible " Worst case scenario" e.g. a light and dark shade based on the same dyestuff can be combined when testing the darker shade.

Soya Jersey
A by-product of the pressing of soy oil , soy fabric is a highly renewable resource and fully bio-degradable. Soy protein fibre closely resembles silk with excellent drape, warmth and moisture wicking properties. Like wool, soy is warm in winter and cool in summer. Unlike wool it offers excellent UV protection. Soy is the only plant-based protein fibre. It is therefore ideal for sensitive skin types.
An extremely supple and soft fabric, this light-weight jersey offers all the benefits of silk and its synthetic equivalents in a wholly natural, plant-based product. Ideal for a range of apparel including T-shirts, general clothing and luxurious underwear.
Compostion
53% soy;
44% organic cotton;
3% spandex
